everyone said Ronaldo (at the time known as Ronaldinho) was going to be the "new Pele"....well here is the truth....nobody can ever be another Pele....the times and style of play were too different back then

nobody can match Pele

nobody can match pele, in his importance for the game and its image, but there might have been players who have surpassed him in skills and there will be such players (maradona, krujf, eusebio, garinca, ronaldo, zidane and maybe ronaldinho for example are pretty close matches...)

what pele did for football can not be done anymore. football is already pretty popular and it does not need the same publicity. there are players who support the game's imagine now too (ronaldo, zidane) but they don't have to do what pele did...
