D.C. United midfielder has come a long way in the last year

"It would be difficult to find an adolescent who has had a more intense, action-packed year than D.C. United starlet Freddy Adu, who turned 16 on Thursday. Although he won't be taking his driver's test for some time, thanks to his duties with the U.S. under-20 national team at the FIFA World Youth Championship in Holland this month, the birthday provides an opportunity for introspection about Adu's remarkable progress to this point."</I>

. . . lots of info on Adu in the link

Yea right, c'mon, the guy was 16 three or four years a go, right now he should be 19 or 20, still a good age to play for the U 20 US team.

Remember he's from Ghana a world infamous country for forgering the age of their players in national teams with age limit, that's why they are so succesful in these categories with age limit, and then fail to make it in the major tournaments.

Until there is a bone scan done by a neutral doctor, meaning not DC United's physician, then I will not speak on his age anymore.

I knew this was a hot topic.

That's why I posted it as soon as saw the site.

I don't get what the big deal is though.

Hmm, falsely marketing someone as being 15, when they are really older just to connect with the younger audience in footballl... Moral values went out the window if it was true.

Remember that Dominican pitcher who pitched at the little leagues, and did really good, but then they found out he was really 14 when he was supposed to be 12?

Kinda reminds me of that

I guess it would be the same concept...

However, a 14 year old pitcher is still VERY good.

A 19 year old soccer star doesn't have the same effect as someone once though to be 15.
