Youth Program

It is a little known fact that more kids are enrolled in soccer programs than in hockey programs in Canada!! Hockey is obviously more popular, and I think more kids play street hockey, than they do soccer in the summer, but it is a fact.

Now, if we consider this, and development a youth system, we can only improve the game. What we are lacking is that all too important link between amateur and professional. We may not have a professional league, but our players can always to to MLS. It's not the best, but better than nothing. All the kids can get to a certain point, but there's nobody to take them further. We don't have enough qualified coaches, or enough competitive teams to help these players development. If we can get that, we'll see a big improvement. It seems like most parents want their kids to "just have fun" when playing soccer. It's not that way in hockey, in hockey it's more serious, and a lot of parents are hoping for big things for their kids. If we can change that, and make soccer more like hockey in that sense, we'll do great!

zu erst mal entschuldigung, das ich in deutsch schreibe. Ich könnte das zwar auch in englisch, aber in meiner Muttersprache geht das schneller.

Sicherlich wirst du dich wundern, warum gerade ein Deutscher sich in die Diskussion um die Nachwuchs entwicklung in Kanada einmischt. Wenn auch nicht mittelbar, so betrifft es mich doch auch am Rande. Ich selbst arbeite als Jugendtrainer im Ausland. Das Problem, das du ansprichst gibt es hier auch. Nur ist dieser Sport nicht Hockey, bei mir ist es Rugby. Damit muß man sich zu erst einmal abfinden. Um eine Änderung herbei führen zu können, muß mal viel Geduld haben. Zu erst muß man sich fragen: Warum ist das so? Offensichtlich ist es doch, daß das Umfeld der Kinder ihre Entwicklung beeinflußt. Das fängt mit der Erziehung im Kindesalter an. Wenn die Eltern schon auf Hockey fixiert sind, wird das Kind dies auch werden und daran wird sich in ihrer weiteren Entwicklung nichts ändern. Darum ist es notwendig schon frühzeitig die Kinder mit dem Fußball in Kontakt zu bringen. Das Fußballentwicklungsprogramm sollte nicht erst bei Kindern im Jugendalter einsätzen dann ist es meißt schon zu spät undman hat die betsen Talente bereits an den dominierenden Sport ( Hockey oder Rugby ) verloren. Schon in der Vorschule oder Kindergarten sollte investiert werden um schon dort das Interesse zu wecken. Das zum Programm. Zu den Trainern möchte ich dir sagen, daß ich das verstehe. Es fehlt an Trainern und ein guter spieler ist noch lange kein guter Trainer wie man es auch in Europa kennt. Wichtig ist, daß man Trainer hat, die sich auf den Jugendfußball spezialisiert haben. Nur so kann man Erfolg haben. Aber auch das scheint ein Weg zu sein, den viele erst begreifen müssen. Ich wollte schon immer in Kanada mal als Trainer arebieten und hab an alle wirklich alle State Assosiations und Directors of Coaching geschrieben, deren Adressen ich über das Internet rausfinden konnte. Bis heute hab ich nicht eine!!!!!!! antwort bekommen. Vielleicht kannst du mir helfen.
