RIYADH – Saudi League champions Al Shabab handed two time AFC Champions League winners Al Ittihad a 3-1 defeat in a round 10 match in the Saudi League.

Al Shabab, who will represent Saudi Arabia in next year’s AFC Champions League along with Riyadh rivals Al Hilal, owed their victory to Ghanaian striker Godwin Attram whose hat-trick condemned Al Ittihad to their second defeat of the season.

Attram opened the scoring for Al Shabab with a penalty in the 18th minute but the Jeddah side were back on level terms five minutes later when Mexican forward Jared Borgetti equalised.

However, Attram restored Al Shabab’s lead with another penalty in the 32nd minute and then completing his hat-trick in the 67th minute to secure the win.

Al Ittihad finished the game with 10 men after Ibrahim Soweid was sent off a minute before the end.

Elsewhere, Gulf Club Champions League finalists Al Ittifaq hammered newcomers Al Faisaly 3-0 while Al Nasr were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Khaleej.

Nice move for AL-Shabab " Last Champions " and Hard Luck for AL-Ittihad
