2009 Ninja 250 won't idle....

Hi,

Took my wife's 250 ninja out of "winter"...had gone in in November, done the fuel stabilizer and batter tender...

Bike starts fine with full choke but will die if I turn the choke off...even took it for a spin round the block in 1st and 2nd gear with full choke, no problems and once its picked up speed will accelerate under throttle to redline but will not idle if choke is off...

There is fuel, batery is fine...ideas ?

Probably a Clogged pilot jet in the carb. Requires cleaning.

However, had the same issue with a KTM and a bit of italian tune up solved the problem (ride it like stink for a bit, possibly with some seafoam in the tank)

Did you drain the carbs?

The smaller the carb, the greater the need to drain them over winter.

Stabilizer does not protect against clogged jets.

I guess you try this seafoam stuff next (search is your friend). Post results please.
