Manny is one of the greatest.... BUT

I do have to express my opinion on this, cause I am now seeing Manny put into the same sentence as Muhammed Ali etc and i just find that to be ridiculous.

I can't argue against Manny being an all time great, but when you really examine what he has done, u will see this:

He defeated:

an old, over the hill, finished Oscar DelaHoya

An old, over the hill, finished Ricky Hatton

a shot Miguel Cotto who wasn't the same after Margarito pounded his skull with illegal wraps.

Joshua Clottey who is a strong guy but no one is going to put into the boxing HOF. guy looked like a human punching bag.

Antonio Margarito who has looked terrible since the hand wrap incident, fought some no name jobber in Mexico and won a decision.

People forget he drew with and many feel lost to Juan Manuel Marquez... a fighter Floyd Mayweather just took all 12 rounds from in a sweep.

just sayin

He's improved a ton since going up - so calling the Manny from the Marquez fight the same fighter that we saw recently is a bit of a stretch.

You can go back with 20/20 hindsight and criticize a lot of Alis opponents too. Mayweather too (especially Mayweather).

Haters goin' to hate.... especially on these boards. It's like the player haters ball in here sometimes.

Well you are leaving out how he made both Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales quit. Both hall of famers. You leave out that in the first Marquez fight which was a draw, he would have won but one judge forgot to give him credit for all 3 knock downs and only gave him two. The judge later apologized.

Also, Manny fought Marquez at Marquez's best weight, not a set up catch weight fight making Marquez come all the way up and then not even make the catch weight and paid a fine.....like the other guy did.

Manny is talked about with Ali because he was won titles in 8 classes, a feat that nobody has ever done and won't be accomplished again and for the fact of his willingness to help others and live a life of public service. He is compared to Ali not only for what he has done in the ring but what he does outside of it.
