Is kickboxing a good skill to learn and what are the advantages of learning it?

I know some basic martial arts techniques, but it’s very basic. I want to improve my physical strength and learn and new skill. Do you think it’s a good idea to learn kickboxing and what are the advantages?

Well, that's somewhat of a loaded question. Kickboxing can either be really good for your body, or really hard on it. The aerobic and cardiovascular aspects of learning to kickbox are phenomenal, and I think in general learning a combat art improves many aspects of your life, like confidence for example. Those would be some of the benefits. If you're learning to kickbox just to keep in shape, then it's fantastic.

If you're like me however and you've spent your life learning the art to actually fight, then it's incredibly bad for you, especially at first.
