Hey guys, my son had his first kickboxing match and jiu jitsu tournament. He's 14 and weighed considerably less than his grappling opponent 45 lbs. he was 9 lbs less in the kickboxing. There were some rough spots but overall I thought he did real well. heres a link.. comment if you dont mind and give him encouragement.....

I'll take a look. I think the thread title is bad which is why nobody is reading it.

I thought this thread was about the new Kickboxer movie.

I like his movement (a little Andy Hug like).

I feel he keeps his hands kind of low (dunno if this is TKD/Karate) and he may be able to get away with it because of his height/length for the weight class. But personally I'd prefer them higher up (Dutch Kickboxing style), the rear glove touching the cheek or mouth (Dan Henderson style).

The spinning back kicks/punches are nice. Have him watch Badr Hari-Stefan Leko to see how to throw the spinning backfist followed immediately by the spinning kick.

I felt when he flurried he left himself open to straight line punches. And with his height/size if someone can get inside him then they will tee off on him (unless there is thai clinch or knees involved). So tighten that part up.
