US Cyclocross Nationals

So, who's going? Registration opened today and they seed by reg. order (after national champs, of course), so it pays to register early.

I registered for the W40-44 race. I'm not 100% positive I can go, but at least I'm registered. If I do go, I'll probably do the women's B race on Sunday as well (assuming I don't injure myself in the masters race like I did last year).

I haven't reg'd yet, but will be doing the 35-39 race on Fri, and likely the women's B on Sunday (except I think you will kick my butt!!!!). Let's connect if you are able to get out here - would be fun to put a face to the "name".

Oh, I don't know about that. I came in last in 2005 -- crashed three times on the ice/snow and separated my shoulder. But my goal is to win natz in this age group (I've got a few years left) -- quite the cinderella story to go from last to champion. We'll see if I can pull it off.

Where are you located, SheFly?

December 17 is my 40th birthday. One of you needs to win as my birthday present.

Actually, just have fun, That's enough.

Great goal! And V, we'll do our best to give you a great Bday gift

.

Velogirl - I am just outside of Boston, so Natz is in my home territory....

*Wow*, I looked at that bikereg website and am totally suprised that you must pay a fee to participate .. and not a small fee either.

Almost all races(*) here in the netherlands are free, provided you are member of a club, prices vary from 50 - 75 usd per year
wear club/team clothing, 50 - 100 usd per year
have a Cycling union/UCI license,75 usd for Womens B category and 200 usd for elite women
All expenses are payed for by sponsors.

(*) The only exception to this are classics (a fee for the participation of a team, often covered by the team budget), competitions (an one time fee for participation which covers all races in that comeptition, often covered by the team budget) or club rides but that is mostly no more then a two dollar fee (which is often used as the price money)

Actually, some of our local women race in Belgium prior to worlds and they got paid by the promoters to race -- just to show up, not to win or anything. How cool is that?

Yes, racing is expensive in the US. The fee for nationals is actually just about the same as the fee for our local races. Cross and mtn bike racing tend to be less expensive than road racing.
