- DREAM ANNOUNCES LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT GRAND PRIX

Thursday, May 20, 2010 - by MMAWeekly.com Staff

Dream on Thursday held a press conference announcing Dream 15 for July 10 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Dream 15 will include a reduced field of four for the promotion’s Light Heavyweight Grand Prix, originally scheduled for Dream 14. Tournament participants were not announced, although former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi is expected to participate.

The winners of the Grand Prix will then fight in the finals at Dream 16 in September.

Aside from Mousasi, Dream announced that fighters competing at Dream 15 would include Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki, Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, Deep lightweight champion Katsunori Kikuno, Tatsuya Kawajiri, and Melvin Manhoef.

No specific match-ups were announced, but Kawajiri, currently riding a four-fight winning streak, has been on a collision course with Aoki. So don’t be surprised if an Aoki versus Kawajiri match-up materializes at the main event.

I was skimming while taking a shot and read "dream announces LHW grand prix" as "Dana announces LHW grand prix".

I'm so disappointed I think I'm going to cry.

wow that made my day, sorry asugar !!

but yeah if Dana ever did make a grand prix for the UFC LHW division that would make me cum all over my neighbors face.

i could see it something like this.......

1. Shogun Rua 2. Lyoto Machida 3. Rampage Jackson 4. Anderson Silva 5. Rashad Evans 6. Forrest Griffin 7. Randy Couture 8. Rogerio Nogueria.... 9. Vitor Belfort 10. Jon Jones 11. Chuck Liddell 12. Tito Ortiz 13. Rich Franklin 14. Wanderlei Silva 15. Keith Jardine 16. Brandon Vera ....

we all know Dana would have Anderson-Vitor-and Wandy all fight in the 205 division Grand prix, if he didn't have those 3 guys come up from 185 to 205 then i could see Luiz Cane, Ryan Bader and Matt Hamill fight in it. with Matyushenko, Bonnar, Davis, Cantwell and Stann not making the grand prix.
