Lauren feels spirit is back

Arsenal full back Lauren believes the Premiership champions have rediscovered their team spirit.

The Gunners have looked edgy ever since their record-breaking unbeaten run was ended by arch-rivals Manchester United back in October.

But, after helping Arsenal to shut out Newcastle United on Sunday, Lauren feels that harmony has now been restored to the team.

He admits that togetherness has been absent in recent weeks but the Cameroon ace was buoyed to witness its return in the 1-0 win at Highbury over the weekend.

"We missed the togetherness, that spirit that we had before and I think you could see that [come back] on Sunday," Lauren told Sky Sports News.

"Since the first minute, we have played some good games, scored goals but the determination and team spirit wasn't there."

As Arsenal look to close a ten-point gap to Chelsea at the top of the table, Lauren has offered a comparison between the capital adversaries.

Lauren maintains The Gunners play a more entertaining brand of football but concedes The Blues, currently, are more effective.

He added: "We play an open game, more open than Chelsea.

"We are passing the ball through the back and through the forwards. Everybody pushes forwards so you've got more space and we concede more goals.

"They are more tight. They are maybe more defensive, more effective
