Cole makes food-fighting denial

Arsenal's Ashley Cole insists he did not throw food at Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson on 24 October.

The Gunners defender had been accused of covering the United boss in food during a fracas in the tunnel after Arsenal's 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

But Cole told the News of the World: "I did not throw pizza at Sir Alex.

"I felt frustrated and angry but I did not feel reckless enough to shame myself by throwing food at anyone, especially the Manchester United boss."

Cole added "I have far too much respect for myself and him as a manager to do that".

But the England international seems to have lost respect for United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy after being on the end of the Dutchman's horror tackle in the match.

Cole stated: "He could have finished my season, or my career, by hitting me with his studs on such a vulnerable part of my knee.

"Now I've had time to reflect on that 'tackle', there is still a sense of injustice.

"I know Van Nistelrooy has accepted the offence and that the FA took immediate action but that challenge could have been devastating.

"I've never had a personal apology and I don't suppose I will get one either."

Sorry, I've got to admit we were fairly beaten. I hear Bet365's taking bets on who threw food at Sir Alex, they've got Cole at 4 to 1 and even Malcolm Glazer at 1000 to 1!

If it was a player, then personally I suspect Lehmann...
