Chelsea v Paris St Germain: Preview

Chelsea will make a number of changes for Wednesday night's visit of Paris St Germain in Group H of the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge.

Striker Didier Drogba, sidelined with a groin injury since the beginning of October, is ready for a recall and likely to be given a place on substitutes' bench.

Alexei Smertin, who was rested for the draw with Bolton, will start the game along with Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini. Skipper John Terry will be rested as he is suffering from a slight neck injury. Paris St Germain goalkeeper Lionel Letizi has called for his side to show the same spirit in the Champions League as they did against Lyon.

Although they did not win their Ligue 1 clash with the three-time French champions on Friday, Letizi is adamant the fighting qualities they displayed at the Parc des Princes will be of great use against English giants Chelsea.

Vahid Halilhodzic's men found themselves down to 10 men and deprived of their coach, who was also sent off, after just 25 minutes, but they held their nerve and managed a goalless draw against the best attack in France.

"We displayed a great performance against Lyon," said Letizi.

"And if we continue to play with the same spirit there is no need to be worried about Chelsea."

Chelsea have already qualified to the prestigious competition's next round while PSG, who are third in Group H with four points, will be aiming for maximum points to keep their hopes alive.

"This is going to be a huge clash physically, it will be tough but we can win," added Letizi.

PSG were thrashed 3-0 by Jose Mourinho's men in their first meeting back in September, and were also beaten by CSKA Moscow, going down 2-0.

But Letizi's team-mates have put themselves in with a shout of qualifying by subsequently beating Porto 2-0 at the Parc des Princes before holding the defending champions to a goalless draw in the return fixture.

"We will do all we can to bring at least a point back from London," added the PSG keeper. "But winning would be even better."
