Team's backbone to be English?

Ranieri want to have English players as backbone of Chelsea.

Well, that sounds reasonable.

But with the few English players we got at the moment, I don't think it's a suitable idea.

Vialli tried to sign some more English players, but they all were too expensive compared to foreign players.

Therefore I don't think we should use all of our money on a English player when we can have 2 foreign players at the same level for the same price!

I don't agree , Ranieri is right . The important thing is to win your National league , in our case the Premiership .

Over the last 4 seasons we have been very strong in all cup competitions because they are one offs , or 2 legs , or mini leagues . The quality of our squad is more than capable of dealing with these type of games in a one off situation .

But I can't believe that all of our foreign players are all that intersted in a league match away to Bradford for example . Hell ! I would be surprised if more than half of them even knew where Bradford was .

English players would have more passion and determination to win a fixture like that one , because they are going to get it rammed down there throats for the next 3 or 4 seasons by there friends , family etc. , where as the foreign players aren't .

Agree, on the part with the passion on away games.

But do you think we should buy 1 good english player or 2 good foreign players at the same level for the price of one english??

I think not...

I see what you are saying ....but , Ranieri has said that he wants to trim the 1st. team squad down to 15 players and keep all the rest in the reserves . So with that senario it would appear better to get one Englishman rather than to foreigners .
