Frey extends Fiorentina contract.

Last season Frey established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in Serie A, producing a string of stunning performances to help the Viola qualify for the Champions League.

The Frenchman’s brilliant form saw him heavily linked with a summer move to both Bayern Munich and Milan, and there were strong rumours that a transfer to the latter was at one point very much on.

However, Frey has recently publicly declared his love for the Viola, the team who he joined from Parma in 2005, and he has now demonstrated this love in actions by signing a new contract at the Stadio Franchi until 2013.

Frey was in outstanding form once again last night during Fiorentina’s 3-1 friendly defeat to Barcelona in Florence, pulling off a host of stunning stops to keep the scoreline respectable.

The 28-year-old, who has won two caps for his country, was an unused member of the hugely disappointing France Euro 2008 squad that crashed out of the finals in the group stages.

Great news. Frey is an excellent goalkeeper. I will never understand why he is not no 1 in france.....

Fiore have built up a great squad, anmd it will be tough serie a season ahead for who ever faces them. I also expect them to make some impact in the CL
