Your opinions on Donadoni

Salve a tutti.

I'm new to these forums, and of course, a fan of our beloved campioni del mondo.

Since I'm new, I thought it'd be good to break myself in by opening a new thread. Since right now is a critical time for the Azzurri, what with the Euro 2008 approaching and everything, why not discuss our current coach, Roberto Donadoni? What do you all think of him? Do you think he is a good coach? Any changed opinions, any approvals, complete rejections?

I personally always thought that Donadoni was a good choice. I never thought twice about the initial match with Croatia (firstly because historically, Italy's great coaches always lose the first match, and secondly, this was using Italy's "C" team). I always held that the draw against Lithuania and the loss against France were more attributed to the World Cup hang over, the calciopoli scandal, and more than anything, the out-of-shapeness that most of the players were (with the league starting later than ever).

It was pretty much shown that that was true after the Azzurri came out on top against Ukraine and Georgia. It's proving that the Italian squad is coming back to its old self again. I'm actually pretty confident of the upcoming match against Scotland. I'm also excited on what test team Donadoni will assemble against Turkey on the 15th.

And what do you all think? This forum looks dead, it needs to be livened up.

Welcome to SFN, Reazzurro90, hope you enjoy your stay and help keeping this forum alive...

Well, about Donadoni, I have not seen the best of him as the Azzurri's coach, and hope that he'll pull it thru and qualify for the Euro2008 final otherwise it would be a disaster. I was really dissapointed on his and his team performance against Lithuania and France. And it was a big relieve that Azzurri managed to win against Ukraine and Georgia. Hope he can keep on winning...

I don't think there was anyone not disappointed with the results against Lithuania and France. But I think the fact that most of the players were out-of-form gave Italy those poor results.

After winning against Ukraine and Georgia, Italy brought its destiny into their own hands.

I'm glad we're going to confront Scotland at home. Being at home plus the delusion of Scotland's latest defeat against the Ukraine should give the Azzurri enough motivation and advantage to win. Serie A will be in full swing by then, so all our players will be in top form.

I'm still sure that we can qualify for the Euro 2008.
