The Serie A Report

soccerates2010-05-04 05:47:26 +0000 #1
I'll keep trying to compile reports like this one for each respective week as time permits me to watch games, highlights etc.

The number next to the assists indicates on which goal it was assisted on. 6th would thus mean the 6th goal of the game, etc...

LAZIO.........4-2.....PALERMO

Rocchi 58, 86....... Caracciolo 36

Pandev 59............Gonzalez 49

Manfredini 65.....

Assists : Santoni 1st, Makinwa2nd, none 3rd, Rocchi 4th, Oddo 5th (freekick), Dabo 6th

For Palermo's opener Santoni hits a thundering goalkick down the field and Caracciolo shows amazing speed to fly by two defenders, lobbing the ball up and over and advancing Peruzzi.

Lazio didn't stop advancing and should have been evened up the score, but Gonzalez doubles the score due to intense work by Caracciolo and Makinwa.

Santoni then gifts Lazio the goal they desperately needed, getting them back into the game as he charges off his line and almost clips his own defender, allowing Rocchi to slot the ball into an empty net.

A minute later Palermo screws up again as Pandev latches on to Rocchi's pass and slots the bottom corner.

Manfredini (appears to have actually mishit the ball) meet Oddo's (please sell him to Milan, they desperately need a repalcement for Cafu SOON!) free kick with a mid air volley or heal, giving Lazio the lead.

Palermo missed chances to draw level before they were finished off with a right hook and undercut combo! Rocchi starts the play rounding a defender and dishing off to Inzaghi. Inzaghi then cuts it back to Dabo runs into

the box and centres for Rocchi to knock in.

I honestly don't think that Lazio would have made the comeback if Guardalben was fit, but they deserve the 3pts.

An incredible match. La Liga supporters should watch this one. It's been typical for mid tiered teams to put up stunning performances like this in Serie A for the past few seasons

Pandev is playing well!

LIVORNO..........2-0.......ASCOLI

Palladino 51

Lucarelli 78 (PK)

Palladino intercepted a pass and blazed by the last defender before depositing a rather easy goal. Lucarelli got the penalty.

SAMPDORIA.....1-2......CHIEVO

Flachi 50...................Franceschini 36

...............................Obinna 61

Assists : Amauri 1st, Zauli 2nd, ? 3rd

Obinha initiates the play that leads to the first goal with a nice lateral move on the defender, to Luciano who first times it to Amauri who again one timed it to Fran who header the corner. Nice nice play!

Flachi then received a cross from Zauli and physically wards off the defender before putting it past Fontana.

Then Obinha stuns a defender with an amazing shift of weight from one foot to the other...he does this all while taking the ball down with his right and turning all in one movement while slipping theball across to his left, he takes a few strides then laterally shifts to run past two defenders before putting a thunderous ball with his right...following up with his best Martin's impersonation

Unbelievable debut...almost as good as Cassano's.

Another thriller:

SIENA................4-2.............MESSINA

Locatelli 10, 46......................Zoro 12

Chiesa 28, 40........................Di Napoli 66

Assists : Bogdani-3rd, Locatelli-5th, Yanagisawa 6th

Locatelli deaks the keeper for the first

Zoro equalizes with a blast

Chiesa restores the lead with an easy tap, then collects his second at the end of the half poshing the bal under Storari.

Locatelli gets his 2nd, seconds after the start of the 2nd half

Di Napoli pulls one back as he shoves off Portanova's feeble challenge, but it was not nearly enough.

TREVISO

0-2

MILAN

Shevchenko 44 (Pen)

Gilardino 73

Assists : Gila 1st (won the PK), Gattuso 2nd

Gilardino was hauled down by Zancope who then embelished an injury but the ref had nothing to do with it. Sheva converts. Gilardino who is a superb finished actually missed several chances, however finally heads in Milan's 2nd goal after Gattuso steers a precision Pirlo cross into Gila's direction. Pirlo is magic from in deep...I've been saying this for 2 years now. Coaches in Serie A still don't know how to handle a playmaker that does most of his damage from 60 feet out + they have Kaka' up front to deal with. The Pirlo Kaka 1-2 punch is still unsolvable. Milan's aging defense will be their only weakness. Cafu and Maldini can't keep up the pace through a gruelling season, and Kaladze and Stam are shit! They need Grosso or Oddo very very soon!

24 September 2005

REGGINA

2-0

UDINESE

Cozza 43

Cavalli 76

Assists : Vigiani 1st, Modesto 2nd

Udinese suffer from freezing Iaquinta out of the lineup. Early reports suggest they are tired of getting routed because of it, and he'll be back for the next game.

PARMA................1-2..................JUVENTUS

Delvecchio 13..............................Camoranesi 44

................................................Vieira 82

Assists : Corradi 1st, Vieira 2nd, Ibrahimovic (surprise) 3rd

Two big men with big hearts (tm) combine to give Parma a lead. Corradi heads to Delvecchio (who truly is getting old now) who volleys the goal!

Camoranesi (one of the engines for Juve, Zambrotta and Canavaro being the others) strikes an amazing ball from circa 30 yards out, putting it on a wire into the top corner...power...respect...

Ibrahimovic does the right thing and after entering the box he crosses the ball between 2 defenders to Vieira who powerfully heads the ball in.

Capello has transformed Viera, allowing him to display his range of skills which Wenger tried shamefully to inhibit by insisting that he play deep and break legs instead of going forward more often. He should have left the Arse years ago!

i would like to coment on something out of topic though... juventus... good strat... but i dont think they will keep it up... although i am not saying they will become a shit teamm all of the sudden im saying they are just going to colapse a litle and the weeker teams (when i mean weeker i mean the teams with not as many points) will catch up and it will come down to the final games or something... thats what i think... now something on topic...

inter should have won by more... look at their team! inter though are doing well also... i think juve and inter... it will be a draw although i want inter to win

2 October 2005

JUVENTUS.....

2-0....

INTER

Trezeguet 22

Nedved 34

assists: Ibra 1st

Juve scores both from set pieces. 1st, Cesar mishandles Ibra's kick, which was deflected and Trez heads into the net. Nedved takes a precision kick for the 2nd. The Matress "breaks" Ibra's leg with a brutal tackle in the first. DP comes on but isn't influential. Then if Ibra's injury wasn't enough, Trez and Thuram also leave with "breakdowns" of their own.

Mancini was inept. I think Inter missed Veron quite a bit.

ASCOLI.............

3-1.......

PARMA

Bjelanovic 28, 78......

...

Pisanu 20

Foggia 33

Assist : Morfeo - 1st, Foggia - 2nd, ?3rd, Tosto - 4th

Morfeo fights off two tackles as he races towards goal and dishes off to Pisanu who netted his pass. Bjelanovic proves that white men can jump and rises over two defenders to head Ascoli even.

Foggia then creates and finishes his own goal as Grella slips up in front of him. Bjela gets his second from another header to give Ascoli it's first win this season.

FIORENTINA.......

3-2....

LIVORNO

Toni 27.....

...

Galante 85

Jorgensen 35.....

....

Morrone 88

Pazzini 60

Assists : 1st - Ujfalusi, 2nd - Pazzini, 3rd - Jorgensen, 4th none, 5th - Coco

Lucarelli's sending off was HARSH, premeditated bullshit by the ref. He was booked for "elbowing" Pasqual, but when he appealed the booking he was shown a red.

Ujfalusi sent a cross in and the Livorno defenders tried to play the offside, but big man Toni leapt above one of them to head in his 6th of the season...amazing.

Jorgensen adds a wickid second; Donadel sends in a hail mary of a pass and Pazzini brings it down and relays it into the path of Jorgensen who picked the bottom corner.

Jorgensen again initiates a play by winning a ball off of a defnder and lays off to Pazzini, who steps lateral of Galante and curls a ball into the corner past Amelia.

Livorno mount a late comeback and Grandoni is denied by...the POST...but Galante volleys it in. Morrone gets a late one but time runs up. Fiorentina really let up and almost got punished for it!

LECCE.......

3-0.......

CAGLIARI

Konan 8........

Pinardi 14 (Pen)

Ledesma 67

Assist : 1st - Cassetti, 2nd - Konan (won the pk), 3rd - Pinardi

Lecce has only scored two goals before this game, but they managed an absolutely superb goal involved some 9-10 touches on the ball before Konan deposited the goal from a great backheel flick from Cassetti.

Pinardi buries a pk.

Ledesma finishes off the rout by smashing in a ball created initially by Abruzzese's backheel to Valdes to Pinardi who lays it off for him.

Zeman is reported to be coming back to Lecce soon.

MESSINA.......

1-4.......

SAMPDORIA

D'Agostino 77.......

Flachi 45

Borriello 79

Bonazzoli 62, 90

MILAN.........

2-1.......

REGGINA

Maldini 5, 20

.........

Cavalli 93

Assists : 1st- Seedorf, 2nd - Rui Costa (corner), 3rd - Vigiani

Maldini, truly an immortal...

Maldini nutmeggs Lanzaro and cracks a low shot into the net after initiating the play to Seedorf who plays a give-n-go with Serginho before giving it back to Maldini.

The agless wonder then get's his second goal from a header off of a Rui Costa corner.

Vieri missed a whole bunch of chances before Reggina pull one back late in the game, extra time by Cavalli.

PALERMO.......

2-2 ......

EMPOLI

Caracciolo 7.......

...

Tavano 9, 42

Makinwa 55

didn't see it

ROMA.......

2-3 ......

SIENA

Taddei 46 ........

... Negro 17

Panucci 86 ........

.....

Chiesa 54

.....

....... Colonnese 91

Assists : 1st - ?, 2nd - ?, 3rd - Vergassola, 4th - Bogdani

Negro opens the scoring off. Taddei ties with a sweat right foot volley.

Vergassola sets up Chiesa who curls one inside the post. Vergassola

gots a yellow for obstructing Totti. Totti takes a stinger of a kick that stuns Mirante and Panucci picks up the rebound, then Totti again comes close to scoring but is stopped by an amazing world class save.

Colonnese taps in the winner.

1 October 2005

CHIEVO

0-0

TREVISO

didn't see it

UDINESE...........

3-0........

LAZIO

Iaquinta 51 (Pen)

Di Natale 79

Candela 90

Assists : 1st - none , 2nd - Iaquinta, 3rd - ?

Iaquinta returns and Udinese is back to their winning ways. He converts the penalty at the beginning of the second half, and assisted on the second as he headed down a cross to Di Natale. Candela finished it off when he ripped through the midfield and lobbed Peruzzi from the top of the box.

If Udinese officials did not pull the stunt they did to force Iaquinta to sign, the might have been nearer the top of Serie A and not been beaten as badly as they were by Barca, but I suppose they don't care since they met their objective and got Iaquinta signed for longer, which means more money in a likely transfer come this Jan.
