Udinese vs Barca (R)

I'm not going to do a huge review for this one, just some basic points:

Udinese has frozen their best player out of the match, and it definitely cost them today.

Besides not having much firepower up front (Felipe with their lone goal), they simply couldn't handle the firepower of Barca. Giving up too many fouls and freekicks, and a penalty that punished them (3 goals on set pieces).

Ronaldinho got three goals.

His second one was a horrible defensive display by Udine, allowing Eto'O to run down the right flank right into the box and drop a low velocity pass directly across the the kiddy corner, past 3 Udine defenders, right to who-else but Ronaldinho who only needed to slot it in. Easy pickings for Ronaldinho.

His first was a brilliant free kick, curled right into the top corner, De Sanctis no chance...and his third was a penalty that was a bit fortunate. Yes he was definitely interfered with, and the rules are clear about this anyhow so the right call was made, but essentially Felipe clipped his knee unintentionally but regardless, as said, there was contact. De Sanctis guessed right, but the ball was slightly too high for him. Nice shot.

Deco got the other goal for Barca on another free kick.

Udinese weren't all bad, but were under pressure and gave away too many fouls, leading to free kicks which Barca punished them for.

preety good resume about it.

That Messi kid is showing real talent everytime he steps on that pitch, he gave Udnisese a headache while on the pitch.

Udinese, as you point out lost this match on deadballs. Too many freekicks were given away, the Udinese defense looked nervous.

Yep, forgot to mention Messi...he was one of the more dangerous players for Barca constantly dancing into the Udinese box...he did well all except for the dive which the ref didn't buy and he was lucky to get away without earning a yellow.

And Ronaldhino also showed his class, not so much on the picth, but on the goals... just beautiful!

Why is Pinzi not playing, I like the type of play Giampiero is, and I know how impressive he can be. Ofcourse, a born laziali

Ronaldinho must have been reading this forum and my criticism about him

but seriously, His first goal was a class free kick, his third was a penalty, and his second was a sitter...a goal that anyone should have scored. He did some superb dribbles through the midfield again, but many didn't materialize into scoring opps...although the ones that did were class. Deco again did the bulk of the work load, and himself scored on another set piece. Set pieces killed Udinese.

Barca came at them in all out attack.

I dunno really, injury? I didn't think Cosmi made horrible selections tactically, except Barreto was useless, and Vidigal didn't deserve his second yellow.

Barca was better though! They're contenders this season!

Still early to say. They'll need to resolve the Iaquinta mess first though!
