Franco Scoglio, affectionately know as "il Professore" in Italian Calcio, died this evening during a TV show on Primo Canale channel, a local genoese elevision, while arguing by phone with Mr. Preziosi, former president of Como and Genoa.

Franco Scoglio was the former trainer of tens of football clubs (Genoa,

Messina, Reggina, Bologna, Udinese, Torino and Napoli between others)

and of two national teams (Tunisia and Libia), and was reknown for his

attacking style football and hugely popular as a freethinking football

pundit. He was universally praised by Sacchi, Galeone, Maifredi and Zeman to be amongst the trainers who changed the style of the Italian football from the middle-late '80s - to todays variations.

One of his trademark sayings - "Io non faccio poesia, Io verticalizzo" (I don't produce poetry, I verticalize) which is a fitting way to remember the legacy "The Professor" left to the Italian football.
