In my humble opinion all the statistics of the past have very little value for the present. It is better to ask what are their chances for the future and unfortunately one can come to the conclusion that they are a spent force and will fail to impress in the upcoming WC...

If you are not Azzurri fan, you should respect them, because they are good...maybe the only team who can stop Brazil next summer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Well obviously you have your bias. I don't think you know what you're talking about. The Azzurri are a SPENT FORCE, has beens, caput, finished, finito...There are at least ten teams that i can think of that are better including; Brazil and Argentina obviously, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Croatia, Holland, Ukraine, Serbia and Greece.

I'm sorry but if you expect much from them in the WC next year then you're deluding yourself....Only Germany more than likely has a chance of beating Brazil...

Sorry, but the truth hurts...

Then World Cup Victories of the past have very little value for the present, and we might as well clean the slate and start clean too?

Any historian will tell you that if you want to make an acurate prediction for the future, you should know your history well. We, thus, cannot ignore history unless you want to pretend it's not important.

"one" can have that ill informed opinion, or can actually look at the skill they have on their team. 4 / 5 top strikers in Seria A (hardest league to score in) are Italian, all ahead of Adriano and 3 of them played on teams with less competent midfielders...

We simply need the midfield to support them in attack, and Lippi to play with three forwards to make a mark. Italian intensity when going forward is second to none.

Anyhow....whatever you say Phil...they only have their best team since 1990, and a coach who isn't afraid to play progressively... + about 6 World Class players on the team. Arguably as competent as the Brazilian squad. But you keep believing they're spent at your own peril...

Also prefacing you comments with "in my humble opinion" is a false showing of confidence. It's like saying "to tell you the truth"...as if everything else that is not prefaced with that is a lie? Give me a break. Nonetheless, someone ASKED SPECIFICALLY WHAT THEIR STATS WITH, so why even bother with "history means nothing" shit like this?

Are you trolling again?

You fail to recognize that he wasn't asking wha their chances were for the future, merely their stats vs the teams he mentioned, not inferring anything at all. You're making the ill informed inference...

Original Question:

"in all the matches played against the big teams in the world:

Brazil

Argentine

and England

I`ll be greatful to know."

See...no implication whatsoever. So what kind of axe do you have to grind with Italians, Phil? You already said you have an Italian girlfriend, and you're Greek - current Euro Champions...clean up your own backyard before you lay the smack down unjustifiably against us Italians woodja!!

What I mean is that looking back to stats of 1938 are poitless. My opinion of the Azzurri is shaped by what I read and very few commentators seem to think they are a force to be reckoned with today, but oviously you think they are at the best since 1990. Hmmm, do recent that's RECENT NT games reflect this statement???
