ok this will be probably the main thread next season as Mr Mancio doesn't have a stable formation and we will also have a lot of options 2 choose from like in the LB grosso and Maxwell , RB Zanetti and Maicon and who knows what additions will come 2 make a big conflict between the players 2 reserve a starting place.

I agree. This thread is going to get very interesting but let's pray that the praise far outnumbers the critique!

With most likely no more players arriving this summer, its time to start thinking how the Mancio is going to pull it all together. The team is now attack heavy, so we should expect that Mancini will be going for a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3. Personally, I'd like to see something like this:

---

--------------Crespo-----

---------Adriano---Ibra---

--Cambiasso--Pizarro--Vieira

-Grosso--Samuel--Cordoba--Zanetti

------------Julio Cesar-------

Its similar to the christmas tree formation Milan were playing a few seasons back, and was reasonably effective for them. Cambiasso & Vieira serve the purpose of protecting Pizarro in the middle, and could probably have been positioned behind him in more defensive midfield positions. Zlatan and Adriano are both extremely gifted players, who like nothing more than running at defences. The two should virtually be given a free role in behind Crespo, alternating sides and most likely be doing most of the crossing for the other two. It also places Crespo in his best role, simply as a finisher. He is not required to carry the ball, and can basically stand on the last man for the cross/through ball or to pick up and rebounds. Crespo has brilliant positioning and will know where the ball is going to be. If this is our starting line-up, then the reserves look something like and can each replace the following players in the starting line up

Figo (Ibra/Adriano, Pizarro)

Stankovic (same as Figo)

Dacourt (Cambiasso, Pizarro, Vieira)

Recoba (Ibra, Adriano)

Cruz (Crespo)

Martins (Crespo, perhaps Ibra/Adri)

Burdisso (Grosso, Samuel, Cordoba, Zanetti)

Materazzi (Samuel, Cordoba)

Maicon (Zanetti)

Solari (Cambiasso, Grosso)

Cesar (same as Solari)

Maxwell (Grosso)

Toldo (Julio Cesar)

Now if thats not squad depth, then Moggi is an honest human being!

While I hope Pizarro gets a decent run, Stankovic and Figo can act as a playmaker. The players who will suffer the most are Solari and Cesar IMO, and I wouldnt be surprised if one of them left.Preferably Cesar. I also expect to see Martins on his way, hopefully on loan so he can come back and replace Crespo. Cruz, as well, is likely to suffer due to the new signings and I honestly feel for the guy. He was excellent last year and doesnt deserve to be bumped down so far.

The best thing about our line up is the amount of possible tactics we can play. If the tree isnt working, we can switch to the 4-4-2 we saw last year, a 4-5-1 (protect a lead) or a 3-5-2 when we bitch-slap Juventus out of the Coppa!

All in all, the potential of this squad is ridiculous. With the talent at his disposal there is no reason Mancio cant take out both the CL and the scudetto. Tiredness shouldnt be too much of a problem with a good rotation process, and there is no injury we cant cover. Its just upto the management now to come up with a winning formula, and keep all the ego's in check.

Happy season to all!

I am not really sure about that formation. I agree that we should field a 4-3-3, but to begin with at least I am not sure we should start with all three of Crespo, Adriano and Ibrahimovic. Adriano for starters is better as a striker rather than a support man and I think a side with 3 forwards is a bit too attack heavy. If we use that formation but with Figo as one of the flanked forwards, he can drop a little deeper in defence than Adriano or Ibra would be willing to.

then plus if either Adriano or Ibra is having a bad day Crespo is there too pick up any slack

to me it really doesnt seem like any team can really play a 4-3-3 unless they can surely dominate their oppostion its too risky

Barcelona? They seem to usually use it regardless of their opposition. We may have different 4-3-3's in mind though. I don't think a 4-3-3 with Crespo, Adriano, and Ibra would work except for when trying to make a desperate comeback.
