Inter have reportedly made their first signing of the 2008-09 campaign in the form of CSKA Moscow ace Daniel Carvalho.

The Italian giants have allegedly made their move after he caught their eye in the two Champions League games between the sides earlier this season.

The 24-year-old is an attacking midfielder who can be used on either flank or as a central assist man behind two strikers.

The Brazilian is coming towards the end of his contract with the capital club and Inter are ready to swoop.

Stories in the peninsula on Wednesday claim that Carvalho will even have his Nerazzurri medical at some stage on Thursday before signing a four-year deal.

Although his non-EU status may cause Inter a problem, it’s thought they could loan him out for a season as soon as he arrives in the summer.

Carvalho has played for the Brazil NT so if we get him on free transfer (that's how I understood this "news") that would be just great.

It's surprising how he stayed in Russia even after winning the UEFA cup some years back. Surely other teams want him as well...

But is he the world class playmaker we're hoping for? Hardly so.

The Russian season ends in the winter? So if this is true, and he is indeed free, we could park him somewhere in Italy for 6 months, as we did with Julio Cesar and Maxwell. I like these sorts of thrifty signings.

And I don't know if he's 'world class' or not, but I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case scenario, he's a replacement for Solari and/or Cesar.

This guy is really good, but for the world class status hell have to prove him self in seria A...I dont think he is our"promised land"but another Cambiasso "money for nothing and chicks for free"player would be greatly appreciated...

I rate this guy very highly. I agree that he may not be world class, but he certainly will take some of that creative burden off Ibrahimovic.

I mean he isnt some guy who has no idea of the European competitions and football...The guy won the UEFA cup, which isnt egsacly the Champions league effort, but it's still pretty good stuff for a Russian team...I cant wait to see this guy in the Black'n blue battle colors...

Here we go again this is happening too often...

There is confusion in the peninsula, as CSKA Moscow have denied that Inter have signed their Brazilian midfielder Daniel Carvalho.

The deal seemed to have been done yesterday when Nerazzurri director Ernesto Paolillo stressed his satisfaction at the swoop.

However, today the Russian giants have denied that any agreement has been reached.

“Lately there have been many ungrounded rumours and speculation about Carvalho leaving CKSA,” read a statement on the club’s website.

“CSKA can report that Carvalho’s contract has been extended until the end of 2009 with an option for a further extension.

“We hope that this information will end talk not only of Carvalho’s departure, but also of a so-called ‘Brazilian problem’ at CSKA, which has been invented by the media.”

Inter are yet to comment on the latest developments, but President Massimo Moratti is unlikely to be pleased following the lengthy transfer sagas involving Cristian Chivu and David Suazo during the summer.
