CRESPO: "BACK WITH THE FAMILY"

Monday, 07 August 2006 17:59:34

MILAN - Two hundred and forty goals. Sixteen of those in 30 appearances for Inter in 2002/03. Goal machine Hernan Crespo is back. After agreeing a two-year loan transfer with Chelsea, Hernan had a medical before putting pen to paper and meeting the press and over two hundred fans. Crespo, who displayed the new Inter shirt with Scudetto and Coppa Italia, was unveiled to the media by Inter's transfer market chiefs Marco Branca and Gabriele Oriali.

"I feel an incredible joy. I can't wait to start and I know I will have many responsibilities that are the same as the motivations, and the pressure has never frightened me," said Crespo. "I hope and want to do well, very well. I am back at Inter, a club and a team with which I had a very intense rapport that I have always respected. It was hard when I left to join Chelsea, I still remember that I cried when leaving Appiano Gentile. What I felt then was like leaving a big family and thinking I would not have another chance. But I have it now and I'm keeping hold of it.

"For me and for my career being back at Inter and seeing my name linked to all the big European clubs is a reason to be proud. Nothing bothers me at all about the loan transfer. I actually have to thank Chelsea, the chairman and the coach because they understood what I wanted as a man and they have made me happy.

"I still haven't spoken with him directly but I have known Roberto Mancini for many years. He gave me a big hand settling in at Lazio, and we have always kept in touch. We also share the same passion for five-a-side... I will put myself at the service of the team and the coach, I will always play with passion and give my all.

"It is true that I have a special, sentimental and now legal relationship with Italy. I am officially an Italian citizen. I have an Italian wife and two Milanese daughters, Nicole and Sofia. They are at home here."

I dont know. Crespo is quite underrated. He has very good movement. But is ageing. I am mixed about this. If we do play a 4-4-2 then I think Crespo will start alongside Adriano. We need someone to score the simple goals and Crespo will do that.

Yeah, he surely can score those very-simple goals.....

Hehe just kidding, he's a pure striker, he can score goals, and be at the right place in the right time, but to me he's not that skillful with the ball, but yeah, he can pull out a decent partnership with that Adriano guy.....

Adriano's going to be back to his very best this season. I have already seen a bit of it in the Porto match. He is looking sharp. That means we don't necessarily need a skillfull guy to partner him. However, I personally think Adriano is better as the target man. But if Crespo really is our only striker signing then I guess Adriano may end up being the deeper player. I still dream of bringing in Ibrahimovic as well, but I doubt it will happen now.

yea i know how good he is, but adriano needs some to play with him to be at his best, just not sure if crespo can help him as much
