Veron, 30, has been on loan at Inter Milan since June 2004 and insists he has no intention of returning to Stamford Bridge before his contract expires in 2007.

The midfielder said: "At the end of the season I will go back home.

"It's a family issue — after so many years travelling all over the world, one has the desire to go back home.

"It's my family that wants me to go back and I have to listen to them."

Veron moved to Italy from Boca Juniors in 1996, playing for Sampdoria, Parma and Lazio before Manchester United paid £28.1million for him in July 2001.

He failed to impress at Old Trafford and joined Chelsea for £15m two years later.

But injury and poor form restricted him to a handful of appearances and Jose Mourinho packed him off to Italy before the start of last season.

Veron added: "I will miss Inter and I will also miss Italy. This country has made me become a man."
