Recoba set for Inter extension

Inter chief Massimo Moratti has hinted that Alvaro Recoba will be handed a new contract at the San Siro.

The enigma’s Nerazzurri future is in doubt given that his present deal expires at the end of this current campaign.

Talks regarding a renewal have yet to take place but Moratti, who is a known admirer of the Uruguayan, has suggested El Chino will be sticking around.

"Recoba’s contractual situation is between the club and the player, but I think they will meet up soon," stated the club owner.

"He is a player with great quality," continued Moratti. "He knows how to be decisive and he is a pleasure to watch."

Moratti’s vote of confidence in the South American has coincided with a much-needed return to form for the 29-year-old.

He’s recently broke back into the starting line-up and scored the opener in the 2-1 win at Messina on Sunday.

Recoba, once the world’s highest paid player, has been at Inter since his 1997 switch from Nacional Montevideo.

However, his best spell in Serie A arguably took place during his six-month loan spell at Venezia in 1999.

The attacker scored 10 goals in 19 games to keep Walter Novellino’s side in the top-flight at the time.

It is a good news if Mancini kept the right jop and keep using him more often, if not.. so I think Recoba is doing a greta mistake.

Obviously I hope Alvaro signs a new deal. I'd like him to stay with Inter after he finishes playing too...
