APPIANO GENTILE - "First a party at work, then one with my wife Celina," said birthday boy Santiago Solari to between today's two training sessions. "I'm happy to celebrate my first birthday with Inter; I have had no problems fitting into this squad and I have got on well with everyone right from day one," added the Argentine, who turns 29 today. "I'm trying to get to know Italy day after day and I must say I like it a lot. My Argentine roots didn't stop me from becoming a true citizen of Madrid for seven years. I have splendid personal and footballing memories from my time there, and I'm convinced that the same thing will happen here in Milan and with the Nerazzurri fans."

It hasn't been the luckiest of starts to a season for Santiagi, but there's an explanation. "The summer went really well. I felt really good. The pre-season preparations were tough, it was a new, but positive experience, and I was reaping the fruits of my work. But then after the first championship match against Treviso I was knocked out by a strong bout of bronchitis. I had a very high fever for over a week and taking antibiotics was inevitable. When I was back on the pitch I wanted to push hard but the legs weren't going. So I had to start from scratch and take it gradually. Things are going well now, and I think I'll be even better after the work done in this (international) break."

When Serie A action resumes a week on Sunday, Inter have to pick up from the Turin defeat. "I think you always learn more from a defeat than from a victory, and we have already analysed the reasons why," Solari said. "We have understood the mistakes we made and we don't want to make them again. There's still a long way to go in the season, we haven't compromised anything, and some people have forgotten that Inter have already reached goals - we won the Super Cup, we got through the Champions League (qualifying) round and we have won our first two group matches. We're not doing bad in the championship, and compared to the other teams we have faced high level opponents. All things considered, we can give ourselves and our fans a lot to cheer about this season."

Wish you good luck in Inter, and I wish you dont forget your promise.. that one about the scudetto , or did you already forgot!!
