Injured Adriano Could Miss Juve Showdown...

9/19/2005 3:14:00 PM

Bad news for Inter as Adriano will be unavailable for at least a week of action.

Reports coming out of Appiano Gentile are indicating the Brazilian superstar got a knock on his ankle against Lecce.

However, he began feeling pain only after the game ended and worsened what probably would have been a minor injury by playing the entire ninety minutes.

The Emperor will surely miss Wednesday’s Chievo tie, and is in doubt both for this upcoming weekend’s juicy encounter against Fiorentina and the October 2nd showdown against mighty Juventus.

I feel sorry for him. With him it certainly is harder to take you guys, but without him it ought to be a breeze for us.

I like the way they say "mighty Juve" in the end, it characterizes their game well!

It seems C4 now says Adriano might be healthy enough to play on Wednesday

. Makes me wonder if he ever was really hurt and if the media was just making stuff up (and then misleading and confusing one another).

good news all around! Burdisso is back, Samuel can play !!!

problems: Cambiasso is injured... he was brilliant against Lecce and much improved compared to Cambiasso I've seen last, the one before last and any other earlier seasons... that's a pity but we have subs for him.

Adriano has been called up. So the Brazilian will not be rested?

"He's quite well. He just got stamped on against Lecce. We will see how he is tomorrow and assess the conditions of all those who played on Saturday evening. Cambiasso also took a knock, so like I said we have to see how everyone is and see how well they have recovered."

Player rotation could help you rest a player. But sometimes changing players also changes the team. Does this make player rotation more difficult?

"There are certain roles in which you change the team by changing the players. There are others where changes don't have much influence apart from the characteristics of the individual players which could be slightly different. There are matches in which we changed men compared to games in which we had done well, and the team continued to do well. But it's clear that something changes if, for example, you're missing two wide players and we have to play Veron in that role. But if C.Zanetti plays in place of Cambiasso, Pizarro in place of Veron or Cruz in place of Adriano, the players might have different characteristics, but the team doesn't change much. But the idea of changing doesn't worry me. Last year we won the Coppa Italia with one team in the first leg that we had to change for the return because several lads had to leave for the Confederations Cup."

So is your idea right now to change as little as possible, both in terms of formation and men?

"At the moment yes. But it's clear that if Cambiasso can't play because his foot's hurting, or if Veron comes and tells me that he's tired because he has played many matches in a row, then I assess the possible changes."

Samuel is newly available in defence. Have you decided to play him against Chievo?

"We had four in defence, with Samuel we will have five and with Burdisso, who returned today, we will have six. The only thing we have to decide for tomorrow is whether to have the defence like we had the other evening or whether to put Cordoba on the right. I still have to assess the conditions of Zé Maria , Cordoba and Materazzi. They have played more than everyone else."

At the moment you have many matches, one after the other. And if Adriano comes to you and says he's fine and wants to play?

"If Adriano tells me he wants to play and I see that he's well, I will certainly play him."

And if Adriano asked you to play but you don't see him in form?

"If I see that he's not in form or in shape, I won't play him, but this goes for every Inter player. I trust them a lot. If they come and tell me they feel well I believe them. No one knows better than yourself."

how cute

Ok, maybe the news wasn't real. Maybe they made a big thing out of something very small. Nevertheless, i wish you guys have the full squad against "Mighty Juve". By the way, for how long is Cambiasso out?
