Italian Super Cup - Juventus vs. Inter

The game will be played in Turin which makes our task a little harder, but to beat the reigning champions in their own backyard would be fantastic.

We have got through our first challenging test of the season unscathed and in a great position to qualify for the Champions League Group stage proper. I therefore think this game will give Mancini a chance to field what would be his first choice starting line-up, although he will probably also want to give games to those that need match practise.

Solari was largely dissapointing last night so I think Figo will definitely start and Pizarro will hopefully also be given a full game. Cruz the Juventino-hunter may also be given a chance, but the one player that I want to see above all others is Recoba. Samuel should be given a full game as well.

My starting line-up:

---------------J.Cesar---------------

Javier----Cordoba----Samuel----Wome

Figo-------Pizarro----Cambiasso---Deki

-----------Recoba----Adriano---------

Cesar should be given a chance to see how he can cope against a world class opponent. If he can display the same sort of charisma and shot-stopping ability that we have seen so far then we could be onto a winner in terms of a long term successor for Toldo.

The back 4 should be at its strongest. Wome and Samuel need a big game to gain match fitness and Favalli hasn't been in all that good form according to various reports.

The midfield allows the new players a chance to play as well as maintaining a look of close to 'first-choice.'

We need to see Recoba in a game like this alongside Adriano so that we can see if he can deliver in the big games. This is nothing compared to the task of winning Lo Scudetto but I think a victory in Turin would set us up well for the remainder of the task. It will just refuel the winning mentality that is already being installed within this talented squad. For this reason I hope Mancini resists the temptation to pick a second string team and puts out a strong line-up. After all, with CL qualification almost wrapped up he can rest the bigger stars for the second leg of that game.

This will also be a good test to see how we fare against our rivals. Cruz will be on the bench, ready to come on and score against his favourite team

Although if last years turn out is any indication you might not be able to tell. Lucky Juve has billionaire owners!!

I'd like to see what he can do too.

id like to see what happens when u put recoba with martins. with martins speed and recobas will to go to the goal i think they would be a pretty good striking team although i think it would be better to put adriano in.....

Mancini's biggest mistake of last season was to play Adriano so regularly that he got tired out. Hopefully we can see your alternative strike partnership more often this season because it is a beautiful combination if both players are on song .

As it stands right now I have to sadly say that I see a Juve victory, maybe 2-1 in this game. Hopefully I am wrong but Inter still seems to be missing something. Juve are looking very good and confident. I think Juve wants it more and Inter having played a champs league qualifier a few days earlier will probably be fileding a half-experimental side. I'm afraid that Camoranesi will exploit Wome bad, and if its martins instead of Recoba in there I don't like the match-up.....Recoba's skill could be instrumental in catching Cannavaro and Thuman out of position. Good luck Nerazzurri.....let's win one for Toto!

how come they played the super cup in the united states 2 years ago (or was it 3?) and now they play in italy? Was it because both teams happened to be here at the time (US that is)?
