Tests have revealed that Juliano Belletti will be out of action for at least six weeks, while Deco is set to be sidelined for at least three weeks after the duo picked up injuries against Osasuna on Saturday.

The Brazilian was carried off after 20 minutes of the 3-0 win and the Portugal international had to subsituted seven minutes before the break. The double injury blow marred what proved to be an impressive performance from the team. The initial diagnosis on both players was that neither injury was that serious, but on Sunday morning a more extensive range of tests have revealed a more negative result.

The club's medical team explained: "Juliano Belletti suffered severe bruising to the inside of his knee. An scan has taken place that showed a partial tear of the hamstring. He will undergo physiotherapy and it is believed he will be out of action for between four and six weeks."

The semi-tendinosus muscle is at the back of the leg and is connected with the flexor muscles in the knee. Doctor Lluís Till said: "This is very important for the movement of the knee and we have to ensure that it heals in the right way." The medic was then asked if the injury would have been less severe had Belletti asked to be substituted in the first minute when the injury occurred. "He continued on the pitch because he thought he could play, but the muscle continued to worsen until it was impossible for him to continue. The injury would have been the same had he come off in the first minute though."

The medical team then explained about Deco's situation after the Portuguese midfielder pulled a muscle in his left leg. "A test has shown that there is a tear of about two centimetres in his abductor muscle. A recovery period of about three weeks will be needed. As he will be unable to play, now will be a good time to perform a small operation to repair the fracture of the third finger on his right hand that he suffered during a previous game."

Doctor Til was keen to stress that an operation on Deco's hand would not prolong his absence from the squad, since the injury had not prevented him from playing in the Osasuna game.

no big deal bout Deco, IMO Xavi is much more valuable than Deco, but bout belleti I feel very sorry, cuz it is the second(after Dinho) and the last player I respect in barca...

The difference is your injuried players are useless. Deco only scored via deflections, belleti, well he keeps diving all the time. We lost ronaldo, baptista and now even zidane again. Your players are no where near that quality.
