Ramos will be able to play against Sevilla

Committee revokes red card

Real Madrid presented its arguments, accompanied by the appropriate videographic material as proof, before the Appeals Committee. Sergio Ramos will be able to play in Seville as the Committee accepted the Club's contention and changed the direct red card to a yellow card.

This afternoon, during its customary meeting, the Appeals Committee studied the allegations presented by Real Madrid, including the video, to decide on a ruling. Once the arguments were assessed, the Committee decided to overturn the suspension that a red card entails, leaving Sergio Ramos with a yellow card for the handball inside the box. This way, the defender for the Whites will be able to play in his former stadium. The player has often stated that it would be “particularly exciting” for him to play back in Sevilla's Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.

First training of the week to prepare for the clash against Sevilla

After the day off on Monday and the game held on Tuesday against Stade de Reims, the squad went back to training on Wednesday morning. There's a four-day training plan ahead, starting today but with Thursday off, to prep up for the postponed match versus Sevilla, which will finally be played this coming Tuesday and with the main objective of maintaining the second position in the table.

After the thrilling encounter against Villarreal which marked Zidane's home goodbye at the Bernabéu, López Caro gave all the players Monday off. The squad came back to train on Tuesday, but the session was traded for a practice game. That night, the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium was inaugurated and the Whites played an entertaining match against Stade de Reims. Madrid won 6-1 with goals by Ramos, Cassano (2), Jurado and Soldado (2).

Once the final date has been set for the matchup against Sevilla, moved from Sunday 14 May to Tuesday 16 May at 9 pm CET, the team went back to training on Wednesday morning to start preparing the clash against the Andalusian side. The session saw only 14 players train together, with the absences of Raúl, who trained separately; Sergio Ramos, Guti and Pablo García, who worked out in the gym; and injured players Ronaldo and Gravesen.

Six a side game

The training day began at 11 am in the Warm-up Room of Real Madrid City, where the Whites performed exercises prior to stepping out onto the training field of Valdebebas. After half hour of work, it was the turn for the customary 'piggy-in-the-middle' drills. The break-down of players into two groups for the previous exercise was maintained for the six-a-side game that the coaching staff had scheduled for today. It was quite warm in Madrid and the stands saw 300 fans cheer on their idols.

GREEN BIB: Casillas; Cicinho, Helguera, Mejía, Roberto Carlos, Beckham and Baptista.

NO BIB: Diego López; Salgado, Pavón, Diogo, Raúl Bravo, Robinho and Cassano.

ORANGE BIB: Zidane, who acted as a wild card for either side.

The intense mini-game took up thirty minutes and was continually supervised by coach López Caro, physical trainer Pau Albertí, and second coach Juanjo Maqueda. The Madrid supporters enjoyed a good serving of strikes and a great atmosphere, typical of this last stretch of the season. With the team presently standing in the second place of the League and therefore depending only on themselves, the Madridistas are calm but intensely preparing for this Tuesday's last match of the season.

At the end of the session, David Beckham stayed on the turf at Valdebebas with physical trainer Pau Albertí. The English midfielder, who ourperformed himself last Sunday with a collection of perfect passes against Villarreal, performed explosive sprints for ten minutes. Beckham wants to be in excellent shape for the clash against Sevilla in the last matchday of the championship. Second keeper Diego López also had his share of extra work with goalkeeper trainer Pedro Luis Jaro.
