Sanz slams Real Madrid president Perez over Eto'o sale

tribalfootball.com - November 8, 2005

Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz has criticised Florentino Perez for allowing Samuel Eto'o to join Barcelona last year.

Sanz, now owner of Serie A club Parma, rapped: "Not to have retained a player like Samuel Eto'o was a terrible mistake.

"He is a player who would have loved to have been in Madrid and he would have played for us with great passion.

"Now he is with Barca and I believe that he will do great damage to us (Madrid)."

Real Madrid coach: I decide who takes penalties

tribalfootball.com - November 8, 2005

Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo was irritated with questions about his penalty takers after Sunday's 1-0 win against Real Zaragoza.

Robinho missed Real's first spotkick during the game and it needed the usual taker, Roberto Carlos, to settle the match after the hosts were awarded a second penalty.

"I decide who takes the penalties," said Luxemburgo. "You'd be wrong to say that Robinho went against my instructions. I told him to take the first one and then decided that Roberto Carlos should take the second.

"I don't want to fight with you (the media). I ordered Robinho not to take the second one. He wanted to take it and that was good, but I did not want to risk it because he had already missed.

"Roberto Carlos took the penalty and won us the three points. Robinho is upset because he wanted to take it. But that's football."

Real Madrid's Robinho: No Luxemburgo dramas

tribalfootball.com - November 8, 2005

Real Madrid attacker Robinho insists he has no problem with coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo after he was ordered not to take their second penalty in the 1-0 win on Sunday against Real Zaragoza.

Robinho missed Real's first spotkick during the game and it needed the usual taker, Roberto Carlos, to settle the match after the hosts were awarded a second penalty. Both of which were won by Robinho.

"Both penalties were correct," said Robinho. "I would have liked to have taken the second of them, despite failing before, but it is important to have humility and to know that perhaps it was not the best moment for taking another one.

"It can be that the ideal thing was that Roberto Carlos took the second because when things are not well it is better to go that way.

"I know Luxa and I know of his experience, so I believe that the decision he made was the right one. I was not scared of taking the second.

"We are not playing well and we must improve. I am already thinking about beating Barça in the next round."

it pisse sme off.

Because of Perez, we have Beckham instead of Ronaldinho and we could have partnered Ronaldo with Eto'o.

Eto'o used to play with us by the way.

because of Perez we have beckham AND Ronaldo, Zidane, Robinho, (we did have) Figo

I still blame Sanz for the debt RM acquired. And I credit Perez for eliminating that debt and making Rm the richest club in the world
