Strength and pride on the right wing of Real Madrid. The Galician player has won respect for all his skill and continuous commitment with the team from the first day he arrived at the home of the Whites.

He arrived at Real Madrid in the 1999/2000 season, coming from Celta de Vigo, a team with whom he gained a great level of popularity. His career with the team from Vigo rasied him to be the best right-winger of the country and catapulted him into the national team, with whom he made his debut in Cyprus. The great game he played with the national againstItaly awoke interest in him from the most important clubs. The Italian press lauded him, calling him “Il due” (the 2). What Míchel was very clear about was that he wanted to play for Real Madrid. From his first match he made people forget about Panucci, the previous “owner” of the wing, and rounded off his first and sensational season with an exceptional prize: the securing of the Eighth European Cup. In his second he got the League. Shortly afterwards the ninth, and the 29th League... and Míchel wants to carry on accumulating them.

4) Sergio Ramos

Position: Centre Back

Place of birth: Camas (Sevilla)

Date of birth: 30/03/1986

Weight: 73 Kg

Height: 183 cms

Nationality: Spain

Career

League, UEFA Cup and Copa del Rey were the three competitions in which he excelled. With Caparrós trusting fully in him, Sergio Ramos played 31 matches during the last league, in which he scored two goals, and despite his position as defender, he only received five bookings. The European clubs were following his progression with great attention, supported by UEFA, who named him the best new player of the National League Championship 2004-05.

His relationship with Spain has been very intense during the last two years. In 2004 he became one of the pillars of the Under-21s, playing six international matches and acquiring the experience necessary for the big leap. In Salamanca, against China, he saw one of his dreams come true: wearing the Spanish strip. Just over 19 years of age, and he is the youngest player to wear the red shirt in the last 55 years, making his debut on the national team. He passed the test with flying colours and the national selector was satisfied.

His prize was a place on the team for the most difficult match of the qualification phase, for the World Cup. Spain was playing for its life in Serbia, and the absence of the Madrid player Míchel Salgado permitted his inclusion on the first 11. Kezman, Milosevic and Stankovic were complicated test which Sergio easily passed. Since then, Seville have received innumerable offers for the number ‘5’. But it was to be Real Madrid who would be able to enjoy his unlimited progress.

Postion: Centre Back

Date of birth: 28/03/1975

Weight: 73 Kg

Height: 185 cms

Nationality: Spain

Career

Touch, style, positioning, and anticpation are the pillars on which rest the playing of Iván Helguera. The Cantabrian defender is one of the best central defenders in the whole world.

Helguera was not a prophet in his own land, as when he started he didn’t have the opportunity to triumph at Racing, where they must still be pulling out their hair about their lack of vision. They let him go, and after passing via Revilla and Manchego, Iván didn’t achieve notoriety until he arrived at Albacete. There he started to shine and drew interest from Italy, where he was signed by AS Roma. In his Italian stage he shared a room with a certain” Totti and gained experience that would be essential for his future. Unfortunately his Italian adventure was not at all satisfactory and he came back to our League, where he made the national team. His spectacular season made the team of Chamartín look at him as a successor to other great midfielders. Now in Madrid, he has manager to show himslef to be the placer with the most projection of national football, whether it is from the position of midfelder or halfback. He is the future "Hierro" as are called those who think that Helguera will make his mark during his time at Real Madrid and on the national team.
