Euro 2016 Bid

Fenerliyim2010-05-09 23:08:39 +0000 #1
Its official, the TFF has officially bid for the Euro 2016 to be held in Turkey.

The decision on who will host Euro 16 will be announced in May of 2010.

If we do get the tournament expect a huge increase in the amount of new stadiums and training facilities as is wanted by UEFA who require 9 stadiums which meet their criteria and also 3 optional back-up stadiums.

Euro 2016 as you know will be the 1st tournament to host 24 teams instead of the usual 16.

The Suggested Stadium Requirements are

2 Stadiums that seat 50,000 and are rated 5 star

3 Stadiums that seat 40,000 and are rated 4 star

4 Stadiums that seat 30,000

Although one major setback is that UEFA has never supported more than 2 stadiums in one city. Seeing how 4 of our best stadiums are located in Istanbul might be a problem.

No one else has placed a bid but here is the speculation on who will:

Scotland or Scotland-Wales, Scotland-Ireland bids

France

Sweden-Norway

Greece

Hungary-Romania

Russia

Italy

We'll keep updates here in this thread.

we can do it Sivasspor,Besiktas,Galatasaray,Bursaspor and Kayserispor are either renovating to increase the capacity or making new stadiums and add Trabzonspor to that list apparently they are going to make their stadium 30,000 or something

This would be a brilliant window of opportunity for Turkey

This would be such an important thing for Turkish football. If Turkey is going to get the EURO2016 then the TFF has to promise about building new stadiums to Turkey and they have to get governments help for this. And our government obviously has the TFF's back because otherwise we wouldn't have requested for this.

So in order to get the EURO2016 the TFF has to promise to build new Stadiums to Turkey.

Turkey should also get a special right to hold the tournament in 3 Stadiums of Istanbul: SSS, Aslantepe, Inönü (new 40,000).

Atatürk Olympic Stadium should be back-up.

TFF should support these cities/teams on new stadium projects:

Trabzon

Eskisehir

Bursa

Izmir (atleast renovate the current Atatürk)

Antalya (already making a 30,000 seater)

Adana

Konya

we will build the stadiums but apart from Antalya and Istanbul we don't have the capacity in our hotels.

That's a good point, but if we could get it right, that would be beneficial for the whole country.

What about Izmir?

Just if we get the EURO2016 the hotels will come too, it's not that big of a matter to worry about.
