Six-time IFL vet Jamal Patterson signs multi-fight deal with Shine Fights

by John Morgan on Nov 09, 2009 at 4:45 pm ET

Six-time International Fight League veteran Jamal Patterson (5-2) is the latest fighter to sign with the upstart Shine Fights promotion.

MMAjunkie.com ( www.mmajunkie.com: www.mmajunkie.com ) has learned from sources close to the organization that the deal is a three-fight, non-exclusive agreement.

After hosting two events in 2009, Shine Fights is expected to host its third show in early 2010.

Patterson fought six times for the now-defunct IFL and earned a 4-2 record in the organization. The New Jersey resident made his professional debut at the IFL's very first event in April 2006 and would go on to earn a pair of wins over Matt Horwich, as well as additional victories over Alex Schoenauer and Chris Baten.

Following the collapse of the IFL, Patterson returned to action in February. "The Suit" submitted Antwain Britt in just 44 seconds to earn the Virginia-based Ultimate Warrior Challenge's light heavyweight title.

All five of Patterson's wins have come by submission.

Shine Fight Promotions' most recent event, the second card in the short history of the organization, was "American Top Team vs. The World" in September.

The upstart promotion has been active in the free agent market in recent weeks with signings of Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira (18-6), Luiz Azeredo (12-8) and former welterweight boxing champion Ricardo Mayorga (0-0).
