The Dream Lightweight champion, Shinya Aoki, felt the need to measure the Dream Lightweights up against the UFC Lightweights.

Aoki had said before the event that Dream, and not UFC, had the best lightweight competitors. After winning the title, he made that claim again.

“It’s not UFC, it’s Dream,” he said.

I can't wait to hear everyone in the forum sound off on this one... let's hear everyone's thoughts

Rather hilarious.

Penn, sherk, edgar, griffin, maynard, huerta, and Florian would all beat him.

And as he is the best one there, that says something about the comparative strengths of the organizational divisions.

Haha is all I can say. Load of shit. Kawajiri is probably the best DREAM lightweight as well, match him up with Aoki and I am confident he will win.

Dream doesn't have better LWs.., I think they have a solid division. But I think someone like Kos would beat Aoki and he's barely Top 4 material in the UFC.

Kos? I think Maynard and Edgar would easily have their way with Aoki along with someone like KenFlo. Aoki would be nothing at WW. At LW he could be a decent contender but not top by any means. The fighters in the UFC lightweight division are far better grapplers on top then in DREAM.
