Are the Gracie's relevant to mma any more?

meaning do they have anyone who can go to the ufc and fight any more or are they all as one dimensional as we've seen so far? they really helped evolve the sport in the beginning but they don't seem to have progressed with the sport. i'd still love to go to brazil and train don't get me wrong (and i am under a gracie now for bjj), but for all their talk they don't produce much any more (except training people for events).

I think as specialists they are very relevant. If you have a really strong wrestling base, you need to train striking and JJ. If you are a kick boxer, you need to train wrestling and JJ. If I wanted to become a well rounded fighter, I would not want go to a Gracie gym exclusively, but if I was really, really good at everything else except JJ, I would climb into a Gracie gym as fast as I could. So yes, they definitely have a place in MMA IMO.

they don't even belong in the ring anymore. the last 2 gracies i've seen fight didn't even have the cardio to last the whole fight. and that's the one thing we never used to see.

I just don't think they can keep up with the athleticism of the rest of the sport. We see one dimensional fighters do relatively well at times. The Gracies just don't have the dna to be competitive in a sport that is being overtaken by athletes.
