WEC cuts Jens

www.f4wonline.com: www.f4wonline.com reports Jens has been cut.

well that sucks.

Granted he has been used as a "jobber name" to get other fighters over the last couple of years but fans love the guy.

I had hoped they would put him on color commentary to keep him in a paycheck as payback for how long he has been around and being a ratings draw second only to Faber, but no.

Zuffa went instead with Ken Florian who has a fighters job plus other commentators jobs. Dana has truly become Vince in chewing up workers and throwing them to the garbage heap after using them up (unless you are his bestest lil buddy Chxcky).

Unfortunately, this means Jens will need to fight on any regional show he can to make a buck.

C'mon Dana, you had a guy who laid it on the line for you time and time again and couldn't give him a job with a mic, but you keep universally hated Ken Flo and Muur on the stick?

Bah.

I think they did offer him the color job. Jens still wants to fight, that's why the WEC cut him.

according to the linked website, he did want the color job but UFC went with Florian instead.

Florian is fine on the mic, but c'mon Jens needs a little support.

Jens said he wanted the color job. They cut him anyway.

Jens mentioned on the UG that he thinks Dana still holds a grudge against him for leaving with the belt or something (I'm really not sure what he meant by that).

I think they should've booked Jens in maybe better, more competitive fights. Dig up someone else in the twilight of their career, or maybe a journeyman. Garcia and Vasquez? Sure, Garcia isn't very good, and Vasquez is old and injured, so I have no issues with those fights, but having him fight Faber, or Grispi was just senseless. Even the Penn match was a waste of time, because nobody thought Pulver had a chance.

If anyone deserves a little slack it's Jens. The guy made a career of pleasing the fans, and win or lose he always comes to fight. This is exactly the reason I've always preferred Japanese promotions and Japanese MMA fans, it's not about wins and losses it's all about fighting spirit.
