Meltzer owns Scott "The Liar" Coker

sportsgenius862010-06-26 02:16:59 +0000 #1
-Scott Coker announced that 10,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday night's Strikeforce show in San Jose and he expects a full house for the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum main event. That's interesting only because you can get 20 tickets in the same row together in the cheapest price range, and those are usually the first tickets to sell out for big MMA events (thanks to Stan Kosek)

LOL sell them tickets Scotty!!

If you're in NoCal, you should drive out on Saturday. You'll probably get papered to be in Pat Healy's corner or something.

First of all SG you seem a little to happy saying negative things about Strikeforce! Why is that? lol

You (or your source) is wrong though!!!! Really wrong! You have no idea what you are talking about(like normal)!

1. At UFC shows the cheap seats sell out first...not at Strikeforce! There are a couple of reasons for this! Comparing them to the UFC is stupid anyway. Whoever you got your info does seem informed on the way the UFC tickets work...NOT STRIKEFORCE! It is apples and oranges! To compare them is pointless!

A. The Strikeforce ticket prices are much cheaper! Much much cheaper actually! So at UFC $100 a ticket will get you in the upper deck, that will get you a very good seat at Strikeforce! The reason for this is supply and demand! People of course rather see UFC shows! No shocker there! So a lot of people can afford good seats and they buy good seats!

B. Strikeforce is in the silicon valley(Google, Yahoo, Oracle, Cisco, Sun, Intel, HP, Apple, Infineon) and there are a lot of corporate seats sold...and they are not in the upper deck! lol

C. The Cung Le gym factor (and to some degree AKA factor and Shamrock factor)- Cung is responsible for over 2K tickets sold from his gym and the Vietnamese community! There sitting section is always on the first deck...and there are a ton of them!

2. If you have ever been to HP Pavillion then you would know that the upper deck is huge there! Also I noticed when I was getting tickets that for this show the whole Upper deck is the lowest price point! So it does not surprise me that in an arena that holds 19K that you can still buy a ton of tix in the upper deck. There were 8500 upper deck tickets for sale! No wonder you can still buy 20 tix in a row!

3. Strikeforce always will pull at least 12K tix for a sj show. If Cung Le is there it will be at least 14-15K! Seriously look at past attendance figures and those shows did not have Fedor!!

I believe that Coker has sold 10K! That isn't even that many. That is a bit over 50% of the arena. Calling him a liar with little proof he is lying is asinine!

First, I was obviously baiting with that OP.

Second, you can get bundles of tickets in pretty much any section if you try to online. There can't be that many gone with what you can pull online right now.

Third, the upper deck seats open are all in the lower part of the upper deck. I doubt people are voluntarily sitting as high as possible.

Fourth, I seriously cannot believe someone crafted a long, thought out response to that.

Fifth, you pulled a ton of that out of your ass

Another reason why you can get tix for SF still from ticketmaster is because it doesn't get scalped nearly as much as UFC. That is a major problem in the UFC especially with the fight club membership early on sale dates. That helps the tickets sell much quicker because fans know they have to act quick to get decent priced tix for the UFC.

Ticket scalping is not a problem in Strikeforce! Also from living in the Bay Area SF does most of their promotion for the show in the last week! I don't know if the show will sell out, but it will have much more than 10K!
