"The ball is in their court" says Vadim Finkelstein

On Inside MMA tonight, Ron Kruck asked Finkelstein about the possibility of Fedor fighting UFC HWs (he named Carwin and Lesnar), and according to the translator, Finkelstein said, while giggling:

"We'd love to have a fight with any of the UFC champions...any of the current champions, as you know, Fedor has beat half the UFC former champions. So we'd be more than happy to have Fedor fight any of the UFC fighters, but you know, right now, their fighters are locked in a cage and they aren't opening them up for anybody else. So the ball is in their court."

The usual they won't fight us because we want half their money defense.

Its starting to make more sense to me now. Both M1 and the guys running the UFC know that Fedor vs Lesner would bring in a huge amount of revenue for whoever puts on the fight. M1 wants Lesner to come to them and UFC wants Fedor to come to them.

It looks like UFC has more money and better distribution, but M1/Strkeforce may be offering the fighters a larger share of the TV profits? Hell its the only reason I can think of for Fedor not to fight in the UFC. I mean, he could easily negotiate a contract that says he only has to fight twice a year for BIG bucks and I'm sure Dana would do it just to pit him up against Lesner.

That said, Fedor vs Overeem interests me too. Just watching Fedor beat down anybody is gold, I just hope to see Fedor fight at least 3 more times before he hangs his gloves up. Werdum, Overeem, and Lesner would be a great way to close out...
