Where does Strikeforce go from here?

Fedor was obviously built up as their major star, no he has lost. Cung Le is old, Frank has retired. Mousasi lost, King Mo has a great future ahead of him but I don't think anyone has him in their top LHW and in anycase he soon runs out of quality opponents.

They have Overeem v Werdum, a thirds Scoot Smith/Cung Le Match, and a middleweight tournament ( maybe a welterweight tournament if Nick Diaz vacates if be become MW champ).

What other fights the got?

What do they do with Fedor?

Will Dana ever stop grinning and will we hear about this on his next vblog?

strikeforce's options are seemingly thin at this point...

and truthfully, there's no need for a smith/le rubber match. unless scott coker is a real dickhead and wants scott smith to eat more damage than he did in the first two fights.

the werdum/overeem rematch is pretty compelling though, given how much both fighters have improved since their original encounter.

also, they brought in hendo (one of my faves) and he lost to a bloated WW (disappointing night for me.)

i saw focus heavily on the MW tourney because there could be some fireworks there and do werdum/overeem because you really just don't look legit if you don't (not that that's been a problem for them in the past) and because werdum can definitely be promoted as the guy who knocked off fedor, which i think can be a HUGE promoting tool.

after werdum/overeem, loser gets fedor, then the winner of that gets a shot at the werdum/overeem winner. i think all of those are marketable fights.

i have not the slightest idea what to do at lhw, the women's division, or ww.

who, at lhw, do they even have under contract other than mo, mous, and babs? no combination of those three fighters seems interesting at all right now.

Strikeforce is Facing a tough time. Fedor their selling point and they were looking for PPV. Now they lost Overeem VS Fedor as the headliner. If they hold ofF on PPV without showtime getting pissed they should be fine. The problem is with Showtime/Hirshman (Sp?) having so much say things might change drastically.

the middleweight tournament could be pretty stellar. seriously, strikeforce has solid depth at 185. jacare, lawler, hendo, le, manhoef, kennedy, mayhem, lindland, smith, diaz, prangley, radach, and villasenor. not to mention up and coming fighters like karl amoussou, yancy medeiros, and luke rockhold. shit, they could actually make that into a ridiculously awesome 16 man tournament (although it would leave them with no immediate contender).

at light heavyweight they actually have a couple of decent challenges for king mo, depending on how they push certain fighters. both feijao and roger gracie could prove to be interesting matchups for lawal, and roger would most definitely be more active off his back than mousasi was. mo's best bet would be to stay on the feet with him. also, they have the opportunity to build mousasi back up for a rematch.

since i read the other thread about fedor wanting to avenge his loss as his last match on his SF contract.. i'm changing my answer to letting fedor attempt to avenge his loss. i don't wanna type out the reasons again right now, though.
