Your scoring system?

If you could create an MMA scoring system from scratch, what would it consist of. It doesn't have to have a snowball's chance in hell to ever happen, just your ideas. Would it be more Pride like where the entire fight is scored as a whole? Would you develop a half-point system? Would you keep it the same and just encourage more 10-8 and 10-10 rounds? Would you leave it as is? Or would you create something new?

I really like the concept of Pride scoring, and think it could be implemented better here in the states where I don't feel like there is as much country loyalty between the judges and fighters.

I also like the possibility of a hybrid style between the 10/9 and the Pride system. I really like the criteria in pride, but would like to see judges be more free with their scoring. Instead of having to go with 10/9 or 10/8 rounds, they can apply any number 1-10 based on the damage given and received, and the other established criteria during a round. I would like to see 10/9 and 10/8 rounds represent a close round, and maybe if a guy is really dominated, dropped and fighting off submissions the entire round, he is given a 3,4, or 5. This requires a dominating round in return to be able to hope for a decision, rather than a couple of takedowns.

I know this has been done here before, but I'm just bored and would like to see some of the newer guys thought on the matter too.

Man, I am already feeling bulldog's absence.

Quick, someone chastise me for making a thread that apparently no one has any interest in so I can feel normal again.

I have an interest in this, but I need to think of what it is I'm trying to say. I'm slow and meticulous like that.

I'll endorse whatever system you guys come up with that results in Koscheck losing every fight regardless of what happens in the cage.

yeah, I really have no reason to bring this topic up other than I just find the wide range of opinions interesting. No mma news has really got me hyped up right now. I mean i want to see Gabe Rudiger return as bad as the next guy, but other than that...

I generally score the round for the fighter who deals the most damage / threatens submissions.

The judges generally score the round for the fighter who has the advantageous position for a greater portion of the round.
