Would you watch this version of TUF?

Instead of getting 16 random guys and splitting them up into two teams, do something like this instead.

Get 8 of the former UFC stars that are too old to compete at the highest level anymore (Chuck, Franklin, Tito, Big Nog, Wandy, Couture, Cro Cop, Hendo?) and have each of them bring in two of their "prodigys" (1 BW and 1 FW??) to compete in a TUF tournament.

That's 16 fighters, and 8 coaches. Have the tournament proceed more or less the same way it does on the show now, however the battle between coaches at the end of the year is determined by which "prodigy" make it to the final.

With the exception of Franklin, all those older guys are around 205-220, so it's not a huge weight class difference. Although there's likely gonna be a rematch (or two) between the coachs, there's a whole TUF show to build up a rivalry.

Seems like a good way to keep these older guys working in the UFC without having them be exposed, get more interest built up for TUF, and showcase the new weight class.

Thoughts? Good idea? Terrible Idea?

That's like WWE's Nexus Reality Show.

Franklin is walks around at 225 I think. So he's right up there with those guys. Problem is, he's not THAT old (fighting years wise) and he's not as over the hill as those guys are. I would bunch Hendo and Nog (assuming Big Nog) in with him - but both have looked shot recently.

That said, I like the idea. I'd much prefer it to "watch these guys in a frat house" like it is with TUF.

If you look at Franklins record over the last couple years, he belongs in there.

Lost a decision to Hendo

Won a decision vs Wandy

Lost to Vitor (top contender) by KO in the first round

Beat Chuck by KO in the first.

If they are going to do another format of TUF I prefer it be something original. TUF is a copy of WWE already they shouldn't reformat the show to copy what WWE is doing now.

I don't know how many MMA fans watch rasslin, but I sure as heck don't. I couldn't care less what they're doing.
