Dana White says the UFC is planning on making non title five round main events

According to UFC President Dana White at yesterday's UFC 129 press conference:

"We've talked about it before. There have been fights that we were watching that have been three-round fights like 'Damn, this should have been a five-round fight. It's the main event and it should have been five.' Yes, we can do it. we can make a main event a five-round fight and we're probably going to start doing that."

I've been a big supporter of this for years. I'll be extremely happy if this is true.

I'm A -Ok with main even fights being five rounds as long as they know it's going to be a 5 round fight (i.e. none of the "let's just add two more rounds" crap)

I'm all for it....

There are a number of fights that I wished had a few more rounds to settle things...But this could just as likely result in a few fights that fans wished had 2 less rounds and PPV cards with less room for exciting prelims. That could be less of an issue though if they continue to run Spike prelims and Facebook fights.

You have to take the bad with the good though...

Has anyone noticed that Dana has been making more sense recently? Maybe they changed his meds.

I'd gladly sacrifice a prelim for two more rounds of Wand-Franklin or Couture-Nog or Evans-T. Silva or Evans-Rampage or Rampage-Machida or Franklin-Hendo or (on and on and on and on).

This is worth it even if a few clunkers get it.
