Thiago Silva maybe failed drug testing for UFC 125, could explain things

I guess now this explains why Thiago was pulled from fighting Rampage

mmamania

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today confirmed that 14 of the 22 competitors who were tested for illegal/banned substances after competing at UFC 125: "Resolution" on Jan. 1 have all passed with flying colors.

Main event participants Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard as well as Chris Leben, Brian Stann, Brandon Vera, Phil Baroni, Brad Tavares, Jeremy Stephens, Dustin Poirier, Diego Nunes, Daniel Roberts, Jacob Volkmann, Dong Hyun Kim and Clay Guida were all screened for performance enhancers such as steroids and drugs of abuse like cocaine and marijuana, among others.

Results from these battery of tests all returned negative.

Unfortunately that list doesn't include one fighter, whose urine sample is "still being processed" according to NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer.

Considering that Brandon Vera was tested and rumors are now flying around the blogosphere about "Rampage" Jackson needing a new opponent for UFC 130 and I think we may have narrowed down the field quite a bit.

The fighters mentioned above were randomly selected. However, athletic commissions typically test the main event participants and fight night winners, as well as those who have failed drug tests in the past. 14 down, 1 to go.

That's speculation.

Oftentimes, writers making these assumptions don't have the correct data.

Also, I don't think they release - "This number passed but this number failed - but we won't say who". In the past they've simply released the people who passed and the people who failed.

Also, 8 fails seems incredibly high. Or maybe the article is trying to say only 14 were tested and all but 1 has been processed as "passed"?

I dunno. Also, it seems a bit late for these results to come out.

well this... this just makes me sad.

whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy thiago?!?!

wait, i've changed my mind halfway into this post. why is his sample "still being processed"? if the others have already all come back negative, then they either ****ed up his sample or it came back positive by such an insanely tiny margin that they're like.. "thinking about it" or something.

i think we're about to find out he tested positive for either something over the counter or a prescription drug for his recovery from all of his back surgery. no roids. thiago hasn't let me down.

it is but i would think the UFC is just doing what they need to do for 205. They have no time probably to wait to see if Thiago is going to pass. i dont like it but now i understand it

don't test results take awhile anyway when it comes to this. i've read that rashad has yet to sign on but the ufc has indeed contacted him. Rampage has no idea about this either

Drug tests aren't individually done.

So it could be something was wrong with his sample (which is a fail by past examples of the NSAC) or he wasn't tested. I suppose something could be "lost" or something, but I doubt it.

We'll see though. Hopefully he hasn't been using PEDs or anything.

Also, hopefully Vera doesnt whine and complain and use whatever potential failure Silva had as an excuse to overturn the fight to a NC.
