MMA Podcasts

Not sure how many guys here listen to the Podcasts, I listen to the MMA Hour and most days I download MMAJunkie too. I like the junkie approach to interviews, asking more informal questions to guests, instead of the same questions everyone else normally asks.

Anyway, this week on the MMA hour Ariel was interviewing Scott Coker, and I was blown away with the guys professionalism, especially compared with Dana White. Ariel gave him plenty chances to take pop shots at Dana but he always seems to rise above it. It impressed me that after all the smack talk Dana does that Coker can still rise above it. I am a big Dana fan, but this us the first Coker interview I have really listened too, I like the guy.

i've made the same observation from coker, but i analyzed it a little differently. i don't see it as him being professional and rising above. i see it as him wanting to provide an alternative to dana. he knows as well as anyone that dana is a love him or hate him guy and that the main critique on him is his professionalism. i think coker's just looking to be that guy that those dana critics want. i don't think of him as someone who is focused on rising above it all or being really professional; i just see those as seide effects of being the prime dana alternative.

for the record, i like them both, but dana slightly more. dana is refreshing to me. so many years of politically correct and insanely boring nfl, nba, and mlb commissioners make me feel like that's WAY overrated and going overboard showing passion for your sport is a welcome change.

I listen to the Jordan Breen Show (actually am right now), Beatdown, and the Savage Dog Show on the Sherdog Radio Network. The JBS is probably the best MMA podcast imo. I've heard about a dozen interviews with Scott Coker on the SRN, and find him "ok." The problem is, he never has a real opinion other than they have the best HWs in the world, and he never answers a legit question. He passes it off on Showtime, who in turn passes it off on Strikeforce and so on. Also, Coker has flat out lied so many times to count it's getting to be funny.

Just like Tallica, I hit up the SRN for podcasts and have grown tired of Cokers same old answers. He's a nice guy though and always seems to find the time for podcasts. (kinda his job I guess)

Joe Rogan Podcast is by far the best out there. It's also on uStream.
