UFC on Versus ratings

I periodically do google news searches for UFC when I have a few free minutes at work. One of the things that has popped up is that many commentators / bloggers / etc are making a bit of a big deal about how the ratings for that event were not very strong.

How many of you think it is due to something like 'too much UFC available / UFC brand is weakened and becomming dependent on top end stars'?

And how many of you think it has more to do with a UFC event being shown on a Thursday and not being shown on Spike when every other UFC event from Spike is on a Saturday?

I think it is the latter.

1. There was nothing about that card from the outside looking in that would make anyone think that they may miss something big or important. I truly wonder just how many casual fans, and even die hards watched more of Jersey Shore that night

Great card as it turned out tho

2. Too much UFC available plays the bigger role here to me. Or another way to put it, too much UFC being shoved down everyone's throats

3. Thursday compared to Saturday plays no role to me. Tito-Shamrock III was on a Wednesday i believe? It drew huge numbers and that was 5 years back. Had it been a Saturday, maybe a little more of a swelled viewing audience, but not much. Same would apply here im thinking...

PS - I can only speak on behalf of the area i live in... But Versus isnt a part of all the available cable TV packages around here, couldve played somewhat of a role, if ever so little

Well I couldn't watch it because it comes on some package I don't get, nor do I feel like paying $10 more a month just to get that station.

That said, I think it was a combination of a lot of cards happening and the day it was on.

I think the channel and lack of promotion I wouldn't have even known about it if I didn't check in on the boards here everyday.

Dana doesn't like the internetz but websites are the only ones who reminded people to watch this stuff.
