Lesnar wrecks everyone at Xtreme Couture

It's natural to wonder how a former champion will react to losing his strap, specifically in the manner in which he lost it.

Wonder no longer, as Fighter Mag was lucky enough to sit down with Jay Hieron, an Xtreme Couture fighter, who had some interesting things to say regarding what it was like when Lesnar was training with the Las Vegas based team for the duration of filming of season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), which premiered on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.

"The Thoroughbred" was glowing in his praise of the stoic recluse, who apparently had a gay old time while running through the entire squad:

"The guy is just a whole different animal. It was his first time back to training since the Cain fight and he was just under 300-pounds. It was something different and we never had a beast quite like that at our gym. It mostly consisted of BJJ and wrestling. A lot of rolling. He also helped some of us in the wrestling department. He did some sparring with Randy."

On Brock's strength and speed:

"You do not realize how strong he is and how fast he is unless you are there training or fighting him. I fight at 170 and I'll be the first to tell you that he was much faster than I was. It's shocking actually - the way he was just throwing guys around."

__

"Couture had him go through rounds of rolling. One person would step in, roll with Brock for 2 minutes then step out and someone else would go in. Forrest Griffin was there, Vitor was there, I was there, Sefo was there. We had a bunch of guys. He was incredibly strong, we would just go in there and get submitted a couple times and get out."

__

On how Lesnar owned Forrest:

"He caught Forrest in the same straight armbar three times in the two minutes they were rolling."

On how Lesnar owned Vinny from Tuf:

"The only one he didn't tap out was Vinny [Magalhaes] but it was more of the same. I don't think anyone was able to get top position without him giving it up. It was a fun experience."

shouldn't this be taken lightly though since none of them are the sheer size of brock?? Shouldn't Brock simply of just been working stand up??

we know his wrestling and takedowns are great, his jiu-jitsu is enough right now for him at this point because it isn't like he is going to be relying on that for his fights.

His only real issue is striking and even that isnt a huge issue its only when hes striking with guys like cain or carwin obviously.

I just dont see why we should think anything has changed considering who hes rolling with

My thoughts exactly. It's an interesting behind the scenes look, but nothing too surprising. Lesnar's ground game has never been in question. It's his stand up that he needs to be focusing on.

Because Vinny from tuf would probably submit the entire ufc hwt roster in straight rolling. That he got manhandled by Lesnar indicates that Lesnar's moving to new levels of dangerous.

Actually no. The point is that Lesnar is much more of a submission threat than we thought he was.

So instead of grappling with a gym full of grapplers, he should've kickboxed with them?

I'm not doubting Vinny but where exactly is vinny right now in regards to being ranked in mma?? We are talking the same Vinny who was beat by Ryan Bader and the same Eliot Marshall who was just destroyed by Luiz Cane??

When have we ever not read that people are throughly impressed by Brock?? Everyone talks about his damn size and speed because it is true when it comes to that.

We knew he had some sub skill when he beat Carwin, but you are acting like this is going to be his go to moveset. As if he will rely on his jiu-jitsu if he fights Mir again or as if he will use it with Big Nog.

His gameplan will always be to purely outwork people and overwhelm them with his size. To think that he is going to be a wizard on the ground or that he should be working on that primarily is foolish.

He should of been kickboxing with Sefo and worked on striking with Vitor.

Ray Sefo was rolling with him, Ray is the striking expert over at Xtreme Couture. What exactly is Ray helping with other than the fact he gave Brock a heavyweight to roll with.

Like I said we know what he is capable of already and the only question ever is his striking and being hit by heavy shots.
