Following his dominant decision victory over veteran, Nick Thompson, at Bellator 40 last night, reigning Bellator welterweight champ, Ben Askren, revealed to Sherdog that he would be moving to Milwaukee to train full-time with Duke Roufus's team, alongside Anthony Pettis, Erik Koch, and Pat Barry:

"I will, for the first time in my life, be a full-time professional fighter. I am gonna move to Milwaukee to train under Duke Roufus. If you thought I was okay now, I might get a little bit better now that it’s full-time."

Thompson, meanwhile, suggested that he would be retiring from active MMA competition following a 53-fight career:

"I’m a fan of Ben Askren and it was an honor for this to be my last fight."

Good move for him. If he can get his hands to a respectable place, he'll be hell to deal with. I'm sure he can bring a lot to that camp too.

Good for The Goat. Classy guy. He had a nice career, and I hope he has been able to put him self in a place to be financially secure.

he's a young kid still so hopefully with some guidance he'll be steered correctly. I would think he will continue to develop while at Bellator and we eventually see him in the UFC within the next 2 years

who was he training with before?? was he just bouncing from camp to camp??

like tallica said though, he is a solid addition to the camp because now he will help Pettis with wrestling

Great camp for a guy who really has rudimentary striking. Ben is already a beast with his submission grappling skills, and most fighters probably already cringe when they draw his name for a fight. I can only imagine how dangerous he could be with Roufus quality striking.
