What is your opinion on Guida saying he doesn't want Bendo and wants a title shot?

I am a huge Guida fan, but this made me lose a little respect for him. Right after we hear Bendo saying he doesn't care who he fights or if it is for a title, we hear Guida say he only wants a title fight. Bendo beat the guy who would have been next with a with a win.

I really want to see this fight, and now want Bendo to win. That attitude of "to be and stay champ you have to keep winning so it doesn't really matter if I fight for the title right now" resonated with me. I understand what it means to Guida's career, getting a shot at the title, but Bendo seems like the truer fighter with his response.

Anyone else have an opinion on this issue?

Guida beat the "number one contender" in Pettis though. I mean, so did Henderson theoretically, but Miller only became the "number one contender" when Guida knocked off Pettis. The whole situation is a mess, and I really don't care how it plays out. In my opinion you should just fight who you're told, and if you can't beat someone then you never deserved to get the title shot in the first place.

Why should he fight Bendo? I know Bendo beats Pettis in a rematch but Guida just put a clinic on Pettis to make Pettis look like nothing while Ben went 5 rounds with Pettis

Guida has established himself while Ben is being praised more due to who he beat in 1 match along with his Bocek win.

Guida has a streak going where he has looked impressive. Jim probably should of had a title shot awhile ago but whatever he chose to fight Ben.

I personally believe Guida should and will get the next title shot.

Ben needs 1 more win to get it

edit:

The UFC has two potential nice title fights as well by letting both Guida and Ben getting a shot. I dont see them risking it now at this point. Along with Cerrone rising up fast in the picture and Guillard.

When fighters start waiting for their chance, they are making it on the business side for them.

I honestly don't think Guida will get another title shot after the eminent one he has, simply due to the odds of the type of guys that have beaten him and the streak he's currently on. He's a good fighter, in the top 5-7 in the UFC LW division, but I don't think given the current landscape he could pull off the same streak. He's making the best of his current state, I can't say I blame him.

Also, even tho it is using MMA math, he did just beat Pettis, who already beat Bendo. There is _some_, albeit small merit to that as the fights were pretty recent.

Because we all know what would likely (though not definitively) happen-Bendo will beat the tar out of him. Bendo's a wrestler himself, but he's striking is way better than Guida's. If Guida goes in brawling, Bendo's going to knock him around silly.
