Anyone else think the hype surrounding Aldo and Jones is too soon?

I don't think aldo should be considered one of the best fighters ever already. Someone in the fox main events thread mentioned aldo moving up and facing st pierre as a possible super fight. what has he done to even deserve a thought like that. Let him beat some great fighters first. Manny and hominick aren't great top tier fighters.

Jones is more deserving of the hype just because he has absolutely dominated his opponents whereas aldo has had trouble a bit. But everyone thought machida looked unstoppable too and now he's 1-2 in his last 3 fights and probably should be 1-3 for the first shogun fight. Jones will be good but the hype is way too soon.

Jones - yes.

Aldo - no.

I think Aldo is the real deal and has had one slip up where he looked like a zombie at the weigh in.

The Jones hype train will end next month.

Like Bulldog, I say yes to Jones and no to Aldo. Jones is the real deal, but I'm not too sure about Aldo. He may very well be, but I'd like to see fight a few more times before he earns a spot on my P4P list.

Also, I haven't read the Fox Main Event thread, but I really hope no one actually suggested a GSP/Aldo superfight.

Yeah Aldo is definitely the real deal, just watch his fights prior to the UFC and you will see that he's been dominating other fighters for awhile now and he will continue to do so in the UFC.

It's definitely too early to say for sure if the hype behind Jones is real but imo he will defend his title successfully against Rampage and anybody else currently in the division. Unless he has a Silva-esque run at LHW (a far more competitive and talent-rich division) he will lose sooner or later. I think the biggest factor in when he loses will be if he starts becoming overconfident in his abilities and gets caught. At the same time we have yet to see his chin tested so if he can take a solid punch in the head then I think he has the makings of a longtime champ.
